This was one of the worst rulings I've witnessed in UFC. Josh was definitely knocked down but never lost consciousness or lack of ability to defend himself. Remember, this is not boxing, there is no count following a knock down. The call was way too abrupt. Of course commentators will defend the ref because they all work for UFC. How can such calls be avoided?

I think the follow up punch usually tells the story, if he was not able to defend the next punch or pull guard then I would have called it. He was rocked though.

This one's kinda hard to call because even though it was only for a second or two Koscheck was out and it was easy to see Koscheck was definitely going to kick this guys ass. But here's the thing once he went down a more experienced fighter would of flown over to him and finished him off but because he did go out for a couple of seconds the ref would of called it but since the kid never went in for the kill they should of let it go for a few more seconds just to see if Koscheck could recover, I say he would of but what's done is done.

I have no disagreements with any of the three posts above. However, I would add that the image of Koscheck laughing at Chris Leben when he was KO'd by Anderson Silva left me bemused. Laugh at a fighter one day, get KO'd another day. Kos is skilled but he behaves like my children did when they were in their teens. One should never laugh at another's misfortune. That might sound preachy, but it is a creedo that builds enduring support from friends and fans alike.

Kos What out when his head hit the canvas, he would put him to sleep if dude got on top and pounded on him, But who knows maybe josh would had pull guard. Ref f**ked it up, now we would never know.

I don't like Kos either, up until recently he was just another arrogant wrestler that really wasn't well rounded at all. I think the next 5 seconds would have determined a more fair outcome. I think Joe Rogaine hit the nail on the head, he is becoming a little Iceman, but Iceman also eats upper-cuts as we have seen!

Spot on...he is young and with a sustained effort he will only improve...both physically and mentally. There is no reason to doubt that he could be in the game for many years to come. I would look forward to his maturity as a fighter and a gentleman.

i agree with tricka, the next 5 seconds would have determined whether the call was fair or not, which we'll never know. but the call was far too premature, if anything his wrestling would have given him just enough time to regain his composure after he fell. he recovered instantly anyways. but yea, this is what happens when they keep hiring these no name inexperienced referees.

i can't imagine how frustrated and pissed off kos is. yes he is often a douchebag but after his fight against thiago alves he has earned my fullest respect.

Man you guys have no idea what you are talking about whats the point of waiting 5 seconds or letting the guy take another punch to the head when he was CLEARLY out. the guys eyes were way back in his head and he had no idea where he was. thiago even knew he was out and didn't wanna keep punishing him
