shogun just is a badass and chuck is all washed up, so i hope people stop saying how good chuck is.

Shogun executed a perfect game plan to defeat Chuck which is how Keith Jardine defeated him. Chuck has a lot of weaknesses that not a lot of fighters have capitalized. A UFC fight is 75% mental game. He has a good chance of winning a rematch though if he will be able to patch up the holes in his game that the Shogun team has exploited. However, if he goes on with his "bad habits" he will again be defeated by other fighters.
To Bone crusher: you need to wipe away your tears and watch the video again because those punches were to the side of the head and completely legal. You can see better if you stop crying like a little girl while watching the video.

Chuck was the better fighter. He has been for a long time. Hes a natural fighter that is why. Just because he dosent go to the ground doesnt mean he hasnt evolved. Its that hes better at knocking them out to the ground. To me stand up is more of a fight not wrestling around on the ground, scared to get hit. Not to say you cant fight on the ground, its just that hold on to each other crap that IS NOT a fight. Show gun appeared to be much bigger but was dominated by Chuck. In my book he didnt win that fight. Fowl shots and the chuck wasnt nearly knocked out.

Man I remember when Randy came outta retirement and fought Sylvia (who held the belt at the time)and I was one of the only guys who said Sylvia wouldn't win, well we all know what happened there. Damn I won a s**t load of cash that night. Chuck's just in a slump right now but unless White forces him to retire he'll be back but you have to give credit when it's due and Shogun gets his props for this win.

ryan ervin you're an idiot. Do this sport a favor and pick up a different one. Shogun is the most well rounded Light Heavy Weight in MMA and he executed a flawless gameplan. Liddell has zero head movement, he doesn't keep his hands up, he doesn't block punches and when trying to avoid strikes he moves straight back. Chuck's opponents during his reign as UFC champ were hand-selected including undeserving title shots for Jeremy Horn (A 185 lb MW) and Vernon White.

He's a legend and has done great wonders for the sport but people need to understand that he's also the product of brilliant UFC marketing, making people think he actually was the best in the world and was fighting the best opponents however the fight just before his fight with Tito at UFC 47 that really launched his career, he was brutally beaten by Rampage in PRIDE. Liddell was supposed to breeze through his side of the tournament bracket and face Wanderlei Silva in the finals (assuming Wanderlei made it). However, Chuck got destroyed by Rampage and then later that night Rampage got destroyed by Wanderlei in the Finals. This was Chuck in his prime getting destroyed by Rampage 4 years before his prime.

the shots shogun landed were to the temple. from the angle in which the video is shown it looks like the back of the head. i had to watch it a couple of times to make sure. i too agree that with chuck's big power he can have devestaing ground and pound but i'm not sure of his mount or half guard to pull it off, we've never seen it. and why is everyone so disapointed to see chuck lose and say rua was lucky? chuck looked the same as always hands wide forgetting his legs could get kicked. but i think his stance is wide because of his karate backround, like machida. not saying they're the same fighter, just that there is some similarities.

i've never seen chuck knock out a good striker more than once. i think the only striker he knocked out was alistarr overeem. randy, babalu, randelman, tito, horn, all grapplers. but aganist strikers like rampage, vitor, wanderlei, shogun he just can't finish.

It seems Chucks chin is weak. When he was in his prime he could shake off hard shots. I hate to say it but he may be done. Dana should give him one more chance against Forrest,(who dosnt possess one punch power) If Forrest KOs him its off to the pasture.

no one's diputing chuck isn't a great fighter I think he is, it's the hype around him that kills me. he was the face of the ufc, but with rogan and goldberg commentating chuck this and chuck that, it's easy to jump on the band wagon. i mean i train now but i know chuck can still knock me out, but in this game luck doesn't exist. it skill and skill alone. although shogun at 185 would be factor but that's just me. hoplefully machida wins against rashad.

I agree with your statement. It just seems like people are enjoying the fact that we are witnessing the decline of a great athlete. Shogun at 185 could be a force but can he beat Silva? It also seems as if a lot of 205 guys are dropping down (Bisbing,W. Silva). He may be better off stay at 205. I really like Machida but I like Evens too. Should be a great fight.

shogun probably has the best style to fight the spider. shogun moves foreward, cuts angles mixes strikes well, versatile with wrestling and submissions. the spider has the perfect stlye for sliva who is percise and versatile, plus there's a story line too. shogun beat rogerio nogueria anderson's teacher. so we'll have to wait and see. plus in pride the majority of 205ers there were short so he had the reach. shogun would be a better striker because his cardio would be even better. i don't think it'll happen thogh because ninja's a 185er. but it'll be good though.
