Introduce a time limit to ground fighting????. 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
I am a 3rd dan Judo black belt and qualified coach so submissions are second nature?. In Judo if the fight goes to the ground you get 10 seconds to secure a pin, armlock or strangle before the fight get's stood back up?. Too many UFC fights are being taken to the ground for all the wrong reasons? ie to waste time if you know you ahead taking away any chance for your opponent to get back at you, or to steal a rest I could take someone down get them in full guard have a good rest knowing I'm not going to get knocked out and they got to take all the risks of leaving an arm behind if try to pass or stand up plus it not good to watch?. So i think if a fighter takes it to the ground he should do it for positive reasons they should be given say 20 secs to secure an armlock, strangle or some serious ground and pound or be stood up?. Have seen fights go to the ground in the first 10 secs of every round neither fighter really trying or doing anything and they have just been left down their? This has lost you possible fans who want to see a fight not 2 men having a cuddle?. . WHAT DO YOU THINK let me know 20 second rule ???.

Simplified fight goes to the ground no positive attempts at finishing the opponent going on after say 20 secs stand it back up?. This will keep the fight flowing better and be more entertaining?.

I'm not sure about 20 seconds, but I do think it's important to keep the action moving. The refs need to be a little more on top of that and stand the fighters up when things slow down. Now if the guy on top is a BJJ black belt, then give him a little more time. If he is a brawler then get them up if he is not staying busy. I know Dana White hates slow fights, so I'm sure they talk about this a lot. For the most part I think recent fights have been much better.
