Randy Couture wants 6-10 Million to Fight Fedor

During a recent interview with the former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture on the Adam Carolla Radio Show, the natural stated that he is hoping for a 6-10 million dollar payday for a fight with Affliction’s Fedor Emelianenko. This seems a little far fetched, considering UFC 86 payed out a total of $943,000 to all of the fighters on the card.

Randy:

They’re still trying to call me the heavyweight champion. I resigned and relinquished the title. Nogueira’s in my opinion the champion now in the UFC…I need to be free and clear of that before I can pursue this fight somewhere else with Fedor (Emelianenko). I’d love for the UFC to step up and make the fight happen. It has the potential to be the biggest mixed martial arts fight to date…It has the potential to do 700,000+ pay-per-view buys which is a helluva lotta money. I think 6-10 [million should be the salary] for each of us and they’re still gonna make a boatload of money on top of that.

Couture would get his ass kicked in the first round, but he would have a nice 6 mil to retire with.

6-10 mil .. i like couture a lot .. but man he always wants more than what he's worth .. i could see if he had a record like fedor's, and beat every single top guy he fought everytime, but cmon he's 15-8 and Fedor only made $300,000 to fight Silvia.. affliction paid tim sylvia $800,000 to get his ass beat for 30 seconds.. they are STUPID, but not that stupid

Money, Politics and Audience: the determining factors of MMA success
written by Jack1209, September 08, 2008
If it was a boxing match, that would have been reasonable paycheck demand. though the popularity of MMA is getting better, sponsorships & marketing and strong MMA organizations are still at their infancy compared to boxing organizations.

MMA is more exciting and technical than boxing. It is multi-dimensional.

Many viewers still cannot comprehend to appreciate many techinical moves of MMA; therefore, earning more $$$ is directly related to educating potential audience in order to get the attention of this sports.

Not promoting or oppose to any political groups, but Mc Cain is strongly criticizing MMA, calling it "human cock fighting".
In short, politics is also the determining factor of MMA success.

This is why this fight will never happen. 6-10 million! I hate it when fighters turn into businessmen (Tito).

Randy's request is a bit ambitious but not impossible.

I think Randy needs to add more at least two more wins against impressive fighters to make his demand more reasonable. Though I am not sure if Lesnar is one of those fighters but because of Lesnar massive strength and wrestling skills, Randy will make a very strong statement that he deserves the top $$$$ if he wins this match.

Let's see what happens next.
